The Power of Feedback
At Decelera we know starting a business is never easy. Whether you’re launching a new product or service or trying to build a brand from scratch, there are countless challenges and obstacles to overcome. One of the most important ways to stay on track and achieve success is to seek feedback and guidance from experts and investors.
1:1s meetings are a great opportunity to get direct and personalized feedback on your business, your strategy, and your overall approach. For that in Decelera’s Program we encourage 1:1 conversations that help Startups:
Identify Blind Spots: No matter how much you know about your business, there are always going to be things you don’t know or things you haven’t considered. By meeting with experts and investors, you can get a fresh perspective on your business and identify blind spots that you might have missed on your own.
Get Objective Feedback: When you’re building a business, it’s easy to get emotionally invested in your ideas and your approach. But sometimes, that emotional attachment can cloud your judgment and prevent you from seeing things objectively. By getting feedback from outside experts, you can get an objective view of your business and your strategy. During the program you will receive feedback from experienced founders, business owners, field experts, investors and many more, people who are able to give feedback based on experience.
Improve their Pitch: If you’re looking for investors, you need to be able to communicate your ideas and your vision clearly and effectively. By meeting with experts and investors, you can practice your pitch and get feedback on how to improve it. This will make you more confident and more effective when it comes time to pitch your business to investors. You will basically test your pitch in front of your objective audience.
Build powerful Relationships: As we say in Decelera “It’s all about people”. When you meet with experts and investors, you’re not just getting feedback on your business, you’re also building relationships. These relationships can be invaluable as you grow your business and look for new opportunities. By getting to know these experts and investors, you can open doors and create opportunities that might not have been available otherwise.
Stay Accountable: Finally, meeting with experts and investors helps you stay accountable. When you’re building a business, it’s easy to get distracted or lose focus. But by meeting with experts and investors on a regular basis, you’re forced to stay on track and keep making progress towards your goals. Normally our Alumni come out of these 1:1s with many ideas, new challenges, improvements to make and a huge smile.
Get an outside perspective: When you’re starting a business, it’s easy to get tunnel vision. You’re so focused on your idea that you may not see potential issues or opportunities that are right in front of you. Experts and investors can provide an outside perspective that you may not have considered. They can offer valuable insights into the market, industry trends, and potential competitors.
In conclusion, seeking feedback and guidance from experts and investors through 1-to-1 meetings is crucial for the success of any startup. These meetings provide a fresh perspective, objective feedback, pitch practice, relationship building, and accountability. During our program our Alumni can both meet with experts and investors during the 1:1 phases of the program or during their free time where they try to keep working on their projects. So if you’re starting a business, make sure to take advantage of these opportunities and seek out feedback whenever possible.
D-Tips:
Don’t plan the usual, formal and boring 1:1 meetings everyone is used to. Take your guest (expert, investors, other) to a walk, grab him/her a beer/coffee and make the conversation more fluent that just sitting in a formal chair.
Before asking for their feedback, ask them about what they do. Is very important to know better who you will be talking with so during the conversation you can generate personal connections.
Be clear with the objective of the conversation so he/she is aligned with what you are looking for.
